Meditation Time

Sarah's overall goal in offering meditation classes and events is to remove the negative stigma and resistance to this life-changing practice.

You are allowed to fidget

You should do whatever it takes to be comfortable

One minute can change a lot (start there)

All you need is you and the motivation to show up one minute at a time

May Classes and Events

What if there were a tool that you could access anytime, anywhere, without any equipment, that would reduce stress, regulate the body's functions, and encourage hormone balance? Oh yeah... and it's free

Sounds like something to be passionate about, doesn't it? Well, that is only the tip of the proverbial iceberg when it comes to Sarah's passion for taking a moment to recenter and find your Self. That is how she sees meditation time, how she engages it, and how she leads her classes. No special anything, just the magical being that you are and intention. For Sarah, the simplicity of meditation is the top value, and the next awesome aspect is how it encourages the mind to sort out something that it wants. What is the goal of the work? What is the intention? It should be focused on the positive outcome so you can shift away from the negative reality you're leaving behind.

Whatever you look for, you will inevitably find so, making sure the intention is on something like finding the quiet spot in the mind, noticing the calmest part of the body or the mind, growing relaxation, rejuvenation, inner peace... the list can go on and on.

Meditation tells the body you are stepping away for a moment and looking to become "no-body". Looking for a space in between or separate from the mind, body, Spirit, Qi, Prana, and all the layers of energy that make you the person and the experience that you are, comes together with meditation time. It simply says, I think there is something more than this 'whatever' that has me stuck, or in pain, or disconnected from happiness.

Of course, we can meditate when we feel awesome! This keeps raising our vibe to a higher function and the flow of love through our systems.

So, what does meditation look like?

Whatever you need it to look like for even feel like! Lay down, sit in a chair, stand up. Even thing like walking, painting, or other hobbies can engage you in a state of meditation. Creation is a form of love, so you are really engaged in raising the vibration with a moving meditation that creates and expresses inner feelings to help connect with them and let them go or grow them! You do not have to be still, or even sitting down with legs criss-crossed. In fact, Sarah's Meditation Classes always include meditation time in the standing position, and it is often the easiest for students to engage in and becomes their favorite. You can change positions, listen to any kind of music, fidget, open and close your eyes, and open and close your eyes again. The only thing that doesn't work is not trying or not showing up.

How long do I need to meditate for?

However long works for you, and maybe just a moment longer. Often people shy away from meditation and claim they can't do it for "that long". So don't! Do it for a shorter amount of time. Sarah loves the thought of committing for one minute and see how that goes. It's easier to show up for one minute than 30 or 60. And you instantly have a list of successes starting! #1 You showed up. #2 You tried. #3 You made it through one minute. Keep that momentum

Celebrate change and accomplishments

Try to add supports for success. YouTube guided meditation, music that helps you stay focused, and a timer with a pleasant chime to notify you that you have met your goal.

Journal or keep a tally (or list) of successes without pressure to do it, unless that works for you.

Here is a great article about the benefits of Meditation documented in a research study. This shows the value even for first timers!

Sarah has recordings of classes and short meditation videos on the YouTube channel, Align with Sarah. I hope you take a moment to check some of them out, and please stop by and enjoy an in-person class at the Community Classroom. There are supplies available if you need them for class. The full-length Monday evening class, as well as the Lunchtime Resource, which is a Wednesday 15-minute session, includes guided meditation time sitting in chairs, standing up, and ends with the students' choice of any supported position (sitting, standing, lying down, blankets, bolsters, pillows, etc). Reach out with any questions. Email is a great way to connect SayHello@AlignwithSarah.com

I love that you made it this far!! Thanks for being here and hope to see you "there" sometime soon!
